Chapter Highlights for My Life, My Body: Sex Ed Made Easy - Consent
Welcome to Pleasure Pixel’s newest Blog series - Chapter Highlights for My Life, My Body: Sex Ed Made Easy - Consent. In this series of blogs we will explore each chapter of the eBook. Consent is the starting point for the eBook because it is also the starting point of sexual health education. Consent needs to be one of the first things that are taught because it is so important that everyone knows how to communicate their needs. Consent is a theme through the entire eBook, however, this chapter breaks down consent to be easy to understand. The chapter shows what consent looks like, what it sounds like and what to do if consent is removed. The chapter shows that “maybe” is a no and how to look at body language to confirm if consent is given or not.
Unfortunately, not everyone knows what consent is. I certainly don’t remember learning about the word consent when I was in school and it wasn’t widely used in the community either. This chapter is about increasing the health literacy of the reader so that when they come into a situation where consent is required, either by asking, or giving consent to someone, they have a good understanding of consent and how it works.
Health literacy is the ability to understand and comprehend health related information, and using the information to make safe choices.
