Chapter Highlights for My Life, My Body: Sex Ed Made Easy - Porn
Welcome to the next blog in the series - Chapter Highlights for My Life, My Body: Sex Ed Made Easy.
This blog is about chapter eleven - Porn.
This is one of the smallest chapters of the eBook. As we have built the knowledge of consent, pleasure, healthy sexual relationships and how our bodies sexually function, the aim of this chapter is to explain what porn is.
There are no explicit pictures of porn in this chapter.
While we start the chapter with explaining what porn is, the next goal of the chapter is to build the porn literacy of the reader. Porn literacy is the ability to determine if the porn is ethical or not.
While porn isn’t for everyone, some people enjoy watching or reading it, so we want the person consuming it to be safe.
The chapter reiterates the rules of porn use:
That porn is for adults only and should not be consumed by, or shown to, children under 18.
Porn needs to show consent, pleasure, safer sex practices and communication.
Where the themes are violence, coercion or harm, the porn is not safe.
Porn can only be shared between sexual partners (boyfriend, girlfriend) with consent and in a private space.
Porn can be used to support masturbation.
Then to finish the chapter the reader is reminded that porn is not real life. Porn is a movie or story and it does not represent sex in real life.
My life, My Body: Sex Ed Made Easy is available now to download onto a phone, iPad or tablet device.
